Professor Zhong Xingwu said that there are currently three myopia control methods that have been confirmed by the medical community and are recognized internationally as effective. This is known internationally as the "three carriages" for myopia prevention and control. Method 1: Exercise outdoors in the sun for more than 2 hours per day; Method 2: Wear a corneal orthokeratoscope; Method 3: Use a low concentration of 0.01% atropine eye drops.
The reporter learned from the meeting that a new type of rigid contact lens (full contact lens) will become a new treatment method for adolescents to control astigmatism. A full-corneal lens) is a type of rigid oxygen-permeable contact lens (RGP), which is what we often call a rigid contact lens. Zeng Jin found through comparison that patients who use full keratoscopy clinically not only have better compliance, but also have better control of myopia.
Participating experts believe that the new RGP is safer than the OK lens and is an upgraded version of the OK lens. However, in terms of effectiveness, a large amount of research is needed, and scientific control experiments and objective clinical data are needed to prove its efficacy.
At present, the number of myopia in China has reached 600 million, and the myopia rate of adolescents ranks first in the world. According to the current development trend, it is estimated that by 2020, the number of myopia in China will be close to 700 million, and the number of people with high myopia will reach more than 40 million.
