Changtai Amomum villosum, also known as Yangchun sand, is a precious southern medicine, belonging to the ginger family perennial herb, which is native to Changtai County. The seed mass in the main fruit of the medicinal part is mild and mild, and has the effects of strengthening the spleen and appetizing, depleting the spleen and stomach, stopping diarrhea, obstructing pregnancy, disturbed fetal movement, less bloating and eating, overdrinking, digestion, sobering up, seasoning and fishy. The shell, flowers, leaves, and oil are all processed for medicinal purposes. In 1980, Changtai was designated as the key county for the production of Amomum villosum in Fujian Province. In the same year, Changtai Amomum villosum was listed as one of the key South medicines developed by the state.
The cultivation of Amomum villosum has a long history. Changtai County Chronicles of Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty have records of Amomum villosum. Later, due to social turmoil, Amomum villosum flowed into the wild state of self-destruction. In 1959, the Fujian Provincial Medicinal Plants Survey Team found Amomum villosum resources in Changtai. Later, artificial cultivation began again, and Changtai Amomum has made great progress. In 1985, the county planted an area of 2,400 mu, accounting for about one-third of the total area of Amomum villosum in the province; harvested 13,485 kg of fresh fruit, accounting for about 70% of the total output value of Amomum villosum in the province. In May of that year, Changtai Amomum villosum was confirmed by Zhangzhou Science and Technology Commission as one of the comprehensive mountain development projects. In the cultivation of Amomum villosum, the introduction of new technologies and the organization of scientific research to improve the yield of Amomum villosum. Sannian Natural Village, Zudi Village, Chen Township, planting 80 mu of Amomum villosum, with an annual output of 6,250 kg. Nowadays, Amomum is also planted in some mountain villages and villages in Changtai Banli Township, "the country with a beautiful environment". In addition to selling fresh fruits and dried fruits of Amomum villosum, they are also salted and supplied to the market.
According to the scientific research department, Changtai Amomum villosum has an oil content of 3.2%, which is equivalent to that of the famous Amomum villosum, and its efficacy is similar to that of Amomum villosum. Changtai Amomum villosum also has the characteristics of large fruit, good quality, high natural pollination rate, and wide adaptability. Therefore, Changtai Amomum villosum has become a famous local product, and its products sell well in the market.
